West Virginia Governor, Joe Manchin, announced on MSNBC that he will “likely” run for Robert Byrd’s Senate seat.  The West Virginia legislature will convene for a special session to determine whether the Governor should make an appointment, or whether the state should have a special election to replace Senator Byrd. Nikki Haley  had been declared the winner in the Gubernatorial Primary for the Republican Party in the state of South Carolina.  This makes Haley the first female nominee for the Governor position from the GOP in South Carolina’s history.
