In 2006 David’s Blog of Common Sense was created by David Taylor, Jr.
David has always had a love for politics even from a very young age. Raised in the Christian church, he was taught the values of the Bible and Conservatism.
In 2004 David worked for the campaign of George W. Bush, helping to coordinate volunteers in the state of West Virginia where he was raised.
In 2006, David worked on the Congressional campaign of Ralph Norman, who was running against Congressman John Spratt. David eventually left the campaign due to the rude and mistreating nature of Ralph’s Campaign manager, who blamed David for “ruining Ralph’s campaign.”
Shortly after leaving the campaign David started the blog. On November 6th, 2006 David Taylor, Matthew Watson, and Ryan Waldroop, recorded the first episode of “David’s Common Sense Podcast.” This show would later add a fourth co-host, Spencer Neal, and become “The Weekend Meltdown.” The show had a good year and a half but as the hosts lives got busier the show was put on the back burner. (However the show is not cancelled!) On the show, David constantly voiced his opinionated politics and world view, mostly arguing with Ryan.
In 2007, the blog was shut down due to funding, and other responsibilities. During the time of shutdown David continued to be a co-host on “The Weekend Meltdown,” and also post political articles on facebook.com and submitting many letters to the editor for various newspapers.
In 2008, the blog was reopened as David was volunteering for the campaign of John McCain. David also began to host “The Common Sense Show,” on Blog Talk Radio. The show was cancelled shortly thereafter by David.
The blog continues to be a controversial place where David hits hard topics that most conservatives won’t touch. Through these controversies the slogan for the blog was born, “Notes from a Conservative, taking shots at the Liberals!” This is the credo that David lives his political life by.
David plans to keep the blog going no matter where his political carreer may take him. You may email him at david@davidscommonsense.com
