Tonight I was able to contribute to a talk show in Charlotte, North Carolina called “Straight Talk with Michael A. Stevens.”
On the show Michael asked me the following question:
Here is my answer to the question:
The candidate that will directly benefit from this bill is still a toss-up. If the bill is perceived favorably with the American People, then McCain will most likely benefit, simply because he has been in Washington this whole time having direct input with the plan. However, if the bill isn’t taken so well, Senator Obama will be the beneficiary because he was indirectly involved.
Either way, neither candidate is completely comfortable with the bill, nor do I think is anybody on Capitol Hill. It is a big step for our country, and for our government. This is a step I don’t think we wanted to take, but it was a necessary evil.
How is this going to effect the taxpayer? I believe this also has two ways to swing.
Taxes will be raised to pay the debt.
- Taxes will be raised to pay the debt.
- Programs that benefit from government funding will have budget money cut. (Programs that are of taxpayer interest.)
The point is, we are in a situation where we had to make a choice, the choice was then made, and this choice will touch every American. Whether or not this will be a positive experience for Americans is yet to be seen.
