West Virginia Governor, Joe Manchin, announced on MSNBC that he will “likely” run for Robert Byrd’s Senate seat.  The West Virginia legislature will convene for a special session to determine whether the Governor should make an appointment, or whether the state should have a special election to replace Senator Byrd.

Arizona V DOJ Continues!

As we all know the Department of Justice has decided to file a lawsuit against the state of Arizona for their new immigration law, SB1070-HB2162, which is set to go into effect on July 29th.

The DOJ claims that the state of Arizona is preempting the Federal Government and their duties to enforce immigration laws throughout the nation.  Arizona doesn’t see it that way.

President Obama stated in a speech that the borders would not be secured, and that we simply need immigration reform.  He stated that the current laws were unenforceable.

But our borders are just too vast for us to be able to solve the problem only with fences and border patrols.  It won’t work.  Our borders will not be secure as long as our limited resources are devoted to not only stopping gangs and potential terrorists, but also the hundreds of thousands who attempt to cross each year simply to find work.

Arizona Governor, Jan Brewer, says that the Government simply needs “to do its job.”

The Government has failed to do its job to protect the borders of this nation, and enforce its laws.  A Gallup Poll suggests that 50% of Americans are against the lawsuit from the DOJ.  It’s time for the Federal Government to listen to the people of this nation and protect their borders.  If they aren’t going to do it, Arizona will.

Drill Baby Drill! Obama Shut Down!

A few weeks ago a federal judge overruled the Obama Administration on their six month moratorium on offshore drilling.  Immediately the administration filed an appeal.  Today that appeal was rejected by Federal Courts.

This comes as a huge win for the nation as the courts are keeping the Administration in check, letting them know that they can’t make policy without backing it up with good reason.

Spratt is for Us?

Representative Spratt states that he wants to know where we stand because he represents us in Government.  How can we believe this when you vote with your party line 98% of the time, and you have a very widely Republican district?

Obama and the Declaration of Independence

Last night on the “Common Sense Show” I did a reading of the Declaration of Independence.  It had been a while since I brushed off that document of old and gave it a good reading, but I found some very interesting, and scary similarities of what was happening back in the 1700′s and what is happening today with the current Administration.  I would like to highlight a few of those today.

He has forbidden his governors to pass laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

Does this remind anyone of anything that is going on with the state of Arizona?

He has dissolved representative houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.

How many times has the President called out the Republican party saying they are doing harm, when in fact they are standing up for our rights as Americans?

He has erected a multitude of new offices, and sent hither swarms of officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.

How many new “initiatives” have we seen announced that raise your tax dollars by the billion?

These are just a few examples of the liberties taken by the current establishment of the Obama Administration.  It is scary, and my fear is that it will only become worse.
